How to Reset a iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Learn how to soft reset (reboot without losing files), factory reset via the Settings application, or hard reset your iPhone 15 Pro Max using hardware button combinations inside Android Recovery or iOS DFU mode.

Soft Reset (Force Restart)
Step 1Quick-press Volume Up
Press and release the Volume Up button quickly.
Step 2Quick-press Volume Down
Press and release the Volume Down button quickly.
Step 3Hold Side button for 10-15 seconds
Keep holding the Side button until the Apple logo appears, then release. The phone restarts.
✅ Good to know: This does NOT erase data. It is the equivalent of turning the phone off and on again. Fixes frozen screens and software glitches.
Factory Reset via Settings (You know your passcode)
Step 1Open Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone
Scroll to the bottom of the General settings list.
Step 2Tap "Erase All Content and Settings"
You will be prompted to enter your passcode and Apple ID password.
Step 3Confirm the erase
The phone erases completely and boots to the setup screen. Back up to iCloud first.
✅ Good to know: Requires your passcode and Apple ID credentials.
Factory Reset via Recovery Mode (Forgotten passcode)
⚠️ Warning: This erases ALL data. iCloud Activation Lock will trigger on startup. You must enter your original Apple ID credentials to reactivate.
Step 1Connect to a Mac or PC
Use a USB cable. Open Finder on Mac or iTunes on Windows.
Step 2Enter Recovery Mode
Quick-press Volume Up, quick-press Volume Down, then hold Side button until the recovery screen (computer & cable icon) appears. Do not release at the Apple logo.
Step 3Click "Restore" in Finder/iTunes
This downloads the latest iOS and erases the phone completely.
